NHA LINH’S GRATITUDE LETTER

Dear Ms Karen and Lifestart Foundation,

Today, I am writing this letter to express my sincere gratitude to Ms Karen and Lifestart Foundation for awarding me such a meaningful and valuable scholarship. I would also like to take this opportunity to share a little about my family background, my academic journey, and my future aspirations.

My family consists of five members, including my maternal grandparents, my mother, my younger sister and me. My mother works as a factory worker and both my grandparents are wounded soldiers. My younger sister is currently in Year 2. Due to my mother’s unstable income, our family faces many financial difficulties. Additionally, we also raise a few chickens to support our daily meals.

Currently, I am in Year 9. Last year, I achieved a GPA of 9.5 out of a possible 10 and ranked first in my class. In the first semester of this school year, my GPA was 9.3. The subjects I am studying in this semester include Math, Literature, English, Technology, Natural Sciences, Arts, Music, Physical Education, Civic Education, Informatics and History & Geography. I go to school in the morning and attend extra classes in the afternoon. Amongst the subjects I study, I am especially passionate about Math as it helps me enhance my logical thinking. It is also the subject I am best at and I always strive to maintain good performance in all subjects. In class, I am diligent, maintain good relationships with my classmates and respect my teachers. I often actively participate in group activities and school events as well. In addition to school, I take extra classes in Math, English and Natural Sciences, and I also spend about four hours a day self-study at home. I review lessons, complete homework and read advanced materials to broaden my knowledge. I find English quite challenging, particularly in pronunciation and grammar, but I am making efforts to improve.

In this semester, my goals are to improve my English score to around 9 and to pursue further studies in Literature and Math. By the end of Year 9, I aim to achieve the title of Excellent Student and do my best to pass the entrance exam to a specialized high school.

In my free time, I often help my mother with housework, take care of our vegetable garden, clean the house and read books. These small daily activities help me not only support my mother but also develop a sense of discipline and responsibility.

When I attended the scholarship interview, I felt a bit nervous but truly happy to have the opportunity to share my dreams. Upon receiving the news that I had officially been awarded the scholarship, my family and I were deeply moved and overjoyed. It was a special and unforgettable moment for us.

To me, this scholarship not only eases the financial burden on my family but also serves as a great source of motivation for me to pursue my education. I believe that it is an important stepping stone on my path toward a brighter future.

Once again, I would like to extend my deepest thanks to Ms Karen and Lifestart Foundation for giving me this precious opportunity. I wish Ms Karen and your family as well as everyone at Lifestart Foundation good health, happiness and continued success.

With heartfelt gratitude and respect,

Tran Hoang Nha Linh
