HOAI TRANG’S GRATITUDE LETTER

Dear Ms Karen and Lifestart Foundation,

My name is Dang Thi Hoai Trang, a student at Vo Nhu Hung Secondary School, Dien Ban Town, Quang Nam Province.

I am writing this letter to express my heartfelt gratitude to you, Lifestart Foundation and the sponsors for supporting me on my educational journey. Your assistance has provided me with better conditions to pursue my studies and move toward a brighter future. I would also like to take this opportunity to share a little about myself, my family, my studies and my current life.

To begin with, I would like to introduce myself and my family. There are six of us including my paternal grandparents, my mother, my two older sisters and myself. My grandfather works as a construction assistant, while my grandmother and mother sell vegetables. All three of us siblings are currently attending school. My eldest sister studies at Hue University of Foreign Languages, my second sister is in Year 11 at Luong The Vinh High School and I am now in Year 9 at Vo Nhu Hung Secondary School.

My father passed away when I was very young, so my mother has been the main breadwinner in the family. Unfortunately, in January, my mother suffered a stroke, which has made our family life even more difficult. I am deeply grateful for the support from the sponsors during this challenging time.

Regarding my studies, I am currently achieving good academic results. Amongst the subjects I study, I enjoy Literature the most because I find it fascinating and feel it reflects the human soul. It also allows me to gain profound insights into life and enhances my vocabulary. However, the subjects I excel in most are History & Geography. In class, I actively participate in discussions and receive much care and support from my teachers. In addition to my academic efforts, I also take part in extracurricular activities such as camping events, school recycling and fundraising campaigns and sports competitions. As the high school entrance exams approach, I am attending extra classes every afternoon and evening in five subjects: Math, Literature, English, Physics and Chemistry. By adjusting my study schedule, I have more time for self-study, from three to four or even five hours a day. During this time, I read books, watch literature-related videos, take notes, do homework and prepare for new lessons. I also work on practice tests for the high school entrance exam.

This school year, I received a Consolation Prize in the town-level gifted student competition, and completed the provincial-level competition on April 4, 2025.

In my free time, I help my family with household chores, listen to music, watch films or exercise to prepare for sports competitions.

My dream is to become a lawyer because I have witnessed many instances of injustice in life. I hope that in the future, I will be able to bring justice to those who have suffered unfairly, contributing to a fairer society.

During the scholarship interview, I felt very nervous and unsure if I could meet the expectations of the sponsors as I lacked a bit of confidence. However, upon receiving the news that I had been awarded the scholarship, I was overjoyed and deeply grateful. My family was also very happy and thankful for your generosity.

Since receiving the scholarship, I have been supported a great deal by the sponsors, receiving essential items such as rice, cooking oil and other necessities.

I deeply value this scholarship because it plays a crucial role in shaping my future. It provides invaluable support to both my family and myself and has significantly eased the financial burden on my family by providing better conditions for my study. The scholarship motivates me to strive harder not only for myself and my family but also to live up to the expectations of the sponsors. I sincerely promise to study diligently to be worthy of the support and trust my family and the sponsors have placed in me.

Finally, I would like to express my sincere thanks to Ms Karen and Lifestart Foundation. I wish you good health, happiness and continued success.

Yours sincerely,

Dang Thi Hoai Trang
