Our Mission
Lifestart Foundation is a not-for-profit organisation helping disadvantaged Vietnamese people and their families to become self-sufficient.
Founded in 2000 by Australian humanitarian Karen Leonard OAM, Lifestart Foundation is a grassroots not-for-profit organisation. Lifestart Foundation applies a holistic approach to helping those in need through proven working programs and initiatives which are designed to effect a generational change.
With the support of a dedicated team of volunteers, we take a holistic approach to development through proven, impactful programs. Our core focus areas include educational scholarships and clean water initiatives, empowering individuals and communities to build brighter futures.
Beyond these key areas, our work also extends to house building, vocational training, emergency aid, and medical support – our work adapts to meet the diverse and urgent needs of the communities we serve.

Meet Hoai, future doctor of Central Vietnam
In May 2018 Lifestart Foundation launched and awarded a new round of major Medical Scholarships at Hue University of Medicine and Pharmacy. These scholarships are the most valuable on offer at the University. The scholarships were awarded to impressive first year students who have demonstrated academic excellence and are from extremely disadvantaged backgrounds. By way
